The Mission

Security and performance at the edge are not features Acquia bolts on. They are the foundation of why enterprise customers trust us with their most critical digital experiences. We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the strategic direction of our edge and security platform, the layer that turns what many competitors treat as an add on into one of Acquia's most compelling competitive advantages.

This role owns our strategic relationships with the CDN, WAF, and security vendors that power our edge platform, defining how those partnerships evolve and how their capabilities are packaged into a native part of the Acquia experience. It also sets the commercial strategy that makes enterprise grade edge protection standard rather than an upsell, and sets the strategic agenda for the broader team responsible for platform security and delivery.

The rise of agentic workflows is changing what edge security needs to do. AI agents, ours, our customers', and those crawling the web, generate traffic patterns, authentication needs, and API interactions that traditional WAF and bot management rules were not built for. You will define what edge protection looks like for an era where a growing share of traffic is not human, and you will build the commercial, technical, and partner strategy that gets us there.

The Profile

  • The Edge Strategist. You build security and performance at the edge into a genuine competitive advantage, one that protects human facing web properties and automated, AI driven traffic alike. You design the product strategy, pricing, and packaging that make that story credible and commercially compelling.
  • The Partnership Owner. You own strategic relationships with major CDN, WAF, and security technology partners at a level well beyond day to day vendor management. You understand each partner's roadmap, negotiate from a position of knowledge, and ensure our edge capabilities stay ahead of what a customer could assemble on their own.
  • The Team Strategist. You set the strategic agenda for the team responsible for edge and platform security, align peers around it, and drive it forward without needing formal authority. You bring experienced colleagues along through the quality of your thinking.
  • The Forward Thinker. You anticipate how AI and automation are reshaping security requirements, and you build the frameworks that let the platform stay ahead of that shift rather than reacting to it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the edge platform strategy. Define and drive product strategy for our full edge and security portfolio, including WAF, CDN, DDoS protection, bot management, and the technology integrations that power them.
  • Lead strategic partnership management. Own relationships with our CDN, WAF, and security technology partners at a strategic level, including roadmap alignment, commercial negotiation, and the partnership decisions that shape our edge capabilities for years to come.
  • Architect for an AI driven traffic landscape. Define how the platform distinguishes legitimate automated traffic from malicious activity, how non human identity and authentication are handled at the edge, and how rate limiting and usage policies account for a growing volume of AI agent and automated traffic.
  • Define commercial edge strategy. Partner with commercial and growth teams to build the pricing, packaging, and bundling strategy that makes best in class edge protection a native platform capability.
  • Set team strategy and influence without authority. Define the strategic agenda for the broader edge and security team, align peers including senior colleagues around a shared direction, and keep the work moving through clarity of argument rather than positional authority.
  • Maintain strategic visibility. Keep leadership consistently informed on edge and security priorities, progress, and risk. Proactive, structured communication upward is a core part of this role.
  • Build shared context for AI enabled workflows. Maintain the documentation and knowledge structures, covering edge architecture, partner roadmaps, and security standards, that let modern AI assisted workflows scale analysis and documentation without manual overhead.
