A Snapshot

As the Safety Lead based in Osaka, you will report to the Manager of Development Safety based in Tokyo and work closely with the wider Development team, making your mark in several ways:

  • Integral in building a safety culture by leading the health, safety and risk associated with Development projects.
  • Drive implementation of excellence in EHS practice to ensure safety is a core value for all workers, contractors, and suppliers
  • Implement industry-leading quality measures across the business that will lead to sustainable business outcomes

Your Day to Day

With a focus on development projects in the Kansai region, you will:

  • Help Embed safety as a core value and practice into execution
  • Mentor GC management and staff to achieve great project outcomes
  • Assist in developing construction contracts to be structured, resourced, and implemented to deliver safe outcomes
  • Champion the safety culture; engaging with management, contractors, and staff at all levels; and implementing initiatives that embed the safety culture throughout the business
  • Implement WHS policies and reporting whilst continually assessing changes in policy and/or practices that may influence the safety context
  • Ascertain material safety risks and use our systems, with your experience and influence to mitigate.
  • Provide support with the ongoing improvement and implementation of the safety management system to support the company’s dedication to managing safety effectively
  • Construct, deliver, and improve internal & external safety communications ensuring appropriate policies, procedures and training programs are in place
  • Maintain compliance with legal safety requirements as well as internal management system requirements
  • Execute assurance schedules for Japan projects
  • Review near misses and incidents and work with teams to build and implement corrective actions
  • Support the standardisation of vendor diligence, including safety track record, global sanctions checks and responsible sourcing.
  • Present regularly to vendors and suppliers to assist in achieving safety outcomes
  • Provide input to sustainability and physical security strategies
