We’re seeking a senior level Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Maintenance Technician IV to support our manufacturing operations in Leland, NC. In this role, you’ll serve as both a technical expert and a proactive collaborator, independently maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, and improving facility and process equipment essential to our production operations. This position plays a critical role in equipment reliability, operational efficiency, safety performance, and GMP compliance, and contributes directly to business continuity and manufacturing performance.

This is a fully onsite role based in Leland, NC.

Key Responsibilities

Safety, Compliance & GMP

  • Champion a safe work environment by actively participating in safety programs, audits, committees, and incident prevention initiatives and by influencing safe behaviors across peers and partner teams.
  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of electrical and stored energy hazards, including proper execution of lockout/tagout (LOTO) and safe work permits.
  • Strictly adhere to all company policies and procedures related to safety, hygiene, and ISO 22716 – Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), while identifying opportunities to strengthen compliance and reduce risk.
  • Serve as a safety role model and go-to technical and compliance resource for peers.

Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance

  • Independently perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on process and facility equipment, prioritizing work based on safety, equipment criticality, and business impact.
  • Install, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical and instrumentation systems with a focus on long term reliability and repeat failure prevention.
  • Diagnose root cause issues and repair or replace:
  • Process instrumentation and control devices
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Motor starters, MCC components, and associated controls
  • Read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation, and coach others on proper interpretation and application.
  • Provide technical leadership during troubleshooting events and multi-trade maintenance activities, facilitating effective collaboration, clear communication and timely decision making.

Mechanical & Utility Systems Support

  • Support and repair mechanical and utility systems, including:
  • Compressed air, steam, hot oil, cooling, and chilled water systems
  • Pumps, piping assemblies, vessels, and agitation systems
  • Gearboxes, mechanical seals, and seal lubrication systems
  • Collaborate across trades to complete complex maintenance and improvement projects, proactively building strong working relationships and ensuring knowledge is shared across disciplines.

Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance processes, and response effectiveness.
  • Apply root cause analysis findings to recommend and help implement efficiency, cost avoidance, or downtime reduction improvements.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous learnings by sharing lessons learned, standardizing best practices, and encouraging innovation within the team.

Operations & Documentation

  • Accurately document completed work, troubleshooting findings, and recommendations in the CMMS and related reports, ensuring documentation support regulatory compliance, trend analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Communicate effectively across shifts, departments, and leadership levels, providing clear status updates, constructive feedback and actionable recommendations.
  • Support maintenance operations by safely operating a forklift to move materials and equipment as needed (forklift certification provided onsite).
  • Work off shift hours and respond to emergency call-ins as business needs require.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive E&I maintenance experience, particularly in GMP or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Associate’s degree or trade school certification in electrical, instrumentation, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience with complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis, including translating findings into sustainable improvements.
  • Ability to write clear technical reports and communicate effectively with cross functional teams.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift in an industrial or manufacturing environment; certification will be provided or renewed onsite as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work at heights.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work independently, safely, and efficiently with minimal oversight.
  • Willingness to work off shift hours and be available for emergency response.

The hourly pay range for this non-exempt role is: $29.33 to $38.46.
