ABOUT THE JOB

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Engineer with a specialized focus on HVAC systems to join our team at our Anduril Industries. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the reliable, efficient, and safe operation, maintenance, and optimization of all building mechanical systems, with a particular emphasis on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) equipment crucial for production processes, comfort, and environmental control within our industrial environment. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in industrial HVAC systems, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • HVAC System Management & Maintenance:
  • Chillers (centrifugal, screw, reciprocating)
  • Cooling Towers and associated water treatment
  • Air Handling Units (AHUs), RTUs, split systems, CRAC units
  • Process cooling systems and refrigeration equipment
  • Pumps, motors, fans, variable frequency drives (VFDs)
  • Ductwork, diffusers, and air distribution systems
  • Humidification/dehumidification systems
  • Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance (PM), and corrective maintenance (CM) on a wide range of industrial HVAC/R equipment, including:
  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and control issues within HVAC/R systems using schematics, test equipment, and advanced troubleshooting techniques. Execute timely and effective repairs to minimize downtime and maintain production integrity.
  • BMS/BAS Operation: Operate, monitor, and adjust building management systems (BMS) and building automation systems (BAS) to optimize HVAC performance, maintain environmental setpoints, and identify potential issues.
  • Energy Optimization: Identify and implement opportunities for energy conservation and efficiency improvements in HVAC/R operations without compromising critical manufacturing processes or comfort.
  • Indoor Air Quality (IAQ): Monitor and maintain optimal IAQ, including filter changes, coil cleaning, and addressing ventilation concerns.
  • General Building & Facilities Maintenance:
  • Electrical (e.g., motor troubleshooting, lighting, power distribution)
  • Plumbing (e.g., pumps, drains, fixtures, domestic water systems)
  • Fire/Life Safety systems (basic checks, alarm response coordination)
  • Compressed air systems
  • Basic structural, carpentry, and general repairs as needed.
  • System Oversight: Provide support and perform basic maintenance for other critical building systems, including:
  • Work Order Management: Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to receive, complete, and document work orders, track equipment history, and manage spare parts inventory.
  • Emergency Response: Serve as a key responder during facilities-related emergencies (e.g., power outages, equipment failures, leaks) to assess damage, initiate repairs, and ensure safety.
  • Vendor & Contractor Coordination: Work with external service providers and contractors for specialized repairs, installations, and projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to specifications.
  • Manufacturing Environment Specifics:
  • Production Criticality: Understand the direct impact of facility systems on production processes and prioritize maintenance activities to minimize disruption to manufacturing operations.
  • Process Cooling/Heating: Expertise in maintaining and troubleshooting systems directly supporting manufacturing processes (e.g., chillers for machinery, specific environmental controls for product quality).
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, hot work permits, and fall protection. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local building codes.
  • Reliability & Root Cause Analysis: Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) of equipment failures to implement long-term solutions and improve system reliability.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, equipment specifications, and system diagrams.
  • Teamwork & Communication:
  • Communicate effectively with production personnel, facilities team, management, and external vendors.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior technicians or operators as needed.
