Whether it’s streamlining operations, enhancing customer experience, or reimagining internal systems — we want people who can make Careem work smarter and move faster.
About The Role
We are seeking a hands-on ERP Head to lead Careem's ERP Department, covering Oracle Fusion Financials, Procurement (Quik), HCM/Payroll, and Integration streams (Oracle Integration Cloud/OIC, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure/OCI). Based on how this function actually operates day to day, this is a working leadership role: the Head is expected to personally triage, approve, and unblock production issues (access requests, purchase requisitions, integration/OIC errors) rather than only delegate them, while also owning team management, the Oracle vendor relationship, automation initiatives (RPA/AI), and quarterly planning for the department. This is a hands-on role: the candidate must personally review and resolve tickets, approve access/PR requests, and troubleshoot Oracle/OIC/Okta issues directly, in addition to leading the team.
What You'll Do
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead and manage the ERP Department across its Financials/Procurement (Quik), HCM/Payroll, and Integration streams, with direct reports on the team.
- Approve team expense claims and handle day-to-day people-management tasks for direct reports.
- Set and enforce team-wide delivery discipline, such as requiring every support/project task to be logged against a JIRA ticket before effort is recognized, including personally maintaining the tracking sheet used to enforce this.
- Run team learning and knowledge-sharing sessions — circulating Oracle upgrade documentation, RPA/AI automation demos, and OIC/OCI technical material — to build capability across the department.
- Recognize and communicate wins across streams (e.g., acknowledging the wider ERP team, the Quik team, and contributors to the HR stream) to keep the department aligned and motivated, including offering personal support to team members during difficult personal circumstances.
Hands-On Production Support & Governance
- Personally review and approve or reject access and Purchase Requisition (PR) tickets in Oracle (e.g., Procurement tab access, business-unit-specific access, HR data access) rather than only delegating.
- Triage incoming support tickets and assign them to the right engineer, then follow up until resolution.
- Directly troubleshoot Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) execution failures and instance/flow ID issues arising from platform upgrades, and Oracle/Okta account and access issues for employees, contractors (EOR/COR arrangements), and external business-partner users (e.g., Uber-side accounts).
- Coordinate with the People team on employee lifecycle events (leavers, COR contract conversions, terminations) and their downstream impact on Oracle/Okta access.
- Escalate and coordinate with IT/InfoSec and network/security teams on issues affecting ERP systems.
Oracle Vendor & Environment Management
- Own the relationship with Oracle for support, environment reviews, Service Requests (SRs), and upgrade planning (e.g., OIC/OCI upgrades, Oracle Fusion Identity upgrades), including attending Oracle-hosted webinars, product-manager sessions (e.g., OIC + RPA sessions), and office hours.
- Coordinate with external ERP implementation consultants on delivery of ERP initiatives.
- Review production environments and integration allowlists ahead of major Oracle changes/upgrades (e.g., flow/instance ID changes on OIC version upgrades) and align the team on go/no-go decisions and rollout timing.
Automation, Innovation & Process Improvement
- Sponsor and drive automation initiatives that cut manual effort and cost — e.g., an in-house AI- powered invoice processing solution (built on Oracle Document Understanding/AI) that reduced per-invoice processing time from 2–3 minutes to 30–35 seconds, at a fraction of the cost of Oracle's equivalent tooling.
- Drive cross-system consolidation projects, such as unifying supplier onboarding into a single Supplier Qualification Module on Oracle's Redwood interface.
- Promote adoption of automation and AI/RPA tools within the team to reduce repetitive, manual work, personally sourcing and circulating relevant tooling and demos to the team.
Planning, Reporting & Stakeholder Management
- Own quarterly planning and prioritization for the ERP Department and report progress directly to senior business stakeholders.
- Act as the primary point of contact for cross-functional stakeholders — Finance/FinOps, People/HR, IT/InfoSec, Security, and regional business units — on ERP-related issues and change requests, including cross-team data mapping (e.g., payroll-to-Kyriba report/profile mapping across markets).
- Manage shared planning artifacts (trackers, shared sheets) and ensure clean ownership transfer/continuity within the team.
- Proactively flag system-wide issues to the right stakeholders and follow through to resolution.
