Senior Commercial Manager – Careem Shops (Jordan)
About Careem Shops
Careem Shops is a third-party marketplace inside the Everything App, connecting customers to a wide network of local partner stores—including supermarkets, pharmacies, florists, butcheries, electronics shops, pet shops, and more.
Every order is picked and packed by the partner themselves, with our Captain network delivering it in 30 minutes. Our mission is simple: simplify and improve lives across the region, one order at a time.
About the role:
We’re looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to lead and grow Careem Shops in Jordan. You will own the commercial strategy and P&L, build and scale partnerships across key retail categories, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable growth and an exceptional customer experience.
This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You’ll be responsible for driving business performance, identifying new growth opportunities, and shaping the future of quick commerce in Jordan. Reporting directly to the GM of Careem Shops for UAE & Jordan, you’ll have the opportunity to influence strategy, execute at scale, and make a measurable impact on one of Careem’s fastest-growing businesses.
You’ll inherit a business with strong foundations and a clear opportunity to accelerate its next phase of growth.
What You Will Own
1. P&L and Commercial Strategy
Full ownership of the Jordan Shops P&L.
Set and defend category strategy across supermarkets, pharmacy, flowers, butcheries, electronics, and other sub-verticals.
Build the annual and quarterly business plans, reporting performance and forecasts to the GM with public-company rigour.
2. Merchant and Partner Store Operations
Lead merchant acquisition and account management across all categories, growing the base of local SMEs on the platform while improving mutual unit economics.
Own partner store operational standards (catalogue/menu quality, stock accuracy, and order-acceptance times) to safeguard our sub-25-minute delivery promise.
Partner with Category and Captain Ops teams to maintain high availability during peak demand and seasonal surges (e.g., Ramadan, back-to-school).
3. Everything App Synergy
Collaborate with Careem Pay to ensure frictionless checkout and drive wallet adoption across Shops orders.
Partner with Captain Ops to protect delivery reliability and Captain earnings.
Identify cross-sell opportunities with Rides and Food to maximize customer lifetime value within a single Careem Super App session.
4. People and Culture
Lead and develop a local team of commercial, operations, and category colleagues, hiring the next layer of Jordan Shops leadership.
Represent Jordan Shops in regional forums, ensuring local market realities directly inform Group strategy.
What Success Looks Like
Growth: GMV growth ahead of the market, quarter over quarter, without sacrificing contribution margin.
Efficiency: Improved last-mile unit economics through smarter partner density, order batching, and Captain utilisation.
Retention: A growing, loyal merchant base measured by repeat listings and reduced churn.
Sustainability: A Captain network that views Careem Shops as reliable, well-paid work.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: 8+ years in commercial, operations, or general management roles—ideally within quick-commerce, retail, or on-demand delivery.
