About the role

We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and employee-centered Senior People Operations Specialist to join our People Operations team. This role is a great opportunity for someone with strong experience in HR support, people systems, benefits, reporting, auditing, quality control, and employee-facing operations. You will work directly with employees across the company, from frontline employees through leadership, providing timely, thoughtful support and helping ensure our people processes are accurate, scalable, and easy to navigate.

In this role, you will support a broad range of People Operations programs and workflows across the employee lifecycle, including employee inquiries, HRIS data maintenance, reporting, process documentation, audits, onboarding and offboarding support, and cross-functional operational projects. A key initial focus will be providing immediate benefits administration and employee support for our US team, including support for benefits, wellness, and leave of absence processes. Over time, this role will also help support benefits administration for our growing international teams in the UK and Canada, primarily through close coordination with our benefits vendors, brokers, and internal partners.

Our ideal candidate will be passionate about providing our employees with the best experience possible while meeting them where they’re at with prompt replies and solutions that work.

What You Will Do:

Benefits Administration

  • Support the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs, including health plans, retirement benefits, wellness programs, time off, and leave of absence processes.
  • Respond to employee benefits inquiries through our HR Service Desk, Jira ticketing system, email, Slack, and other internal channels.
  • Provide clear, timely, and empathetic support to employees navigating benefits questions, enrollment changes, qualifying life events, leaves of absence, and vendor issues.
  • Escalate complex benefits, compliance, or employee relations matters to the appropriate internal partners or vendors.
  • Maintain benefits-related employee records and ensure information is accurate across HRIS, vendor platforms, and internal documentation.
  • Coordinate with benefits vendors, brokers, and internal stakeholders to resolve employee issues, data discrepancies, invoice questions, and administrative needs.
  • Support recurring compliance activities related to benefits administration, including required notices, audits, reporting, and documentation.
  • Support the planning and execution of open enrollment, including employee communications, system updates, testing, data validation, and issue resolution.
  • Help prepare benefits materials, FAQs, guides, and internal documentation to ensure employees understand their benefits options.

Core People Operations

  • Manage and respond to tickets from employees and outside vendors in our HR Service Desk.
  • Assist in the day-to-day maintenance and administration of our HR systems to ensure data accuracy and system functionality.
  • Contribute to improving the entire employee lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding.
  • Enhance processes that foster a positive, cohesive employee experience.
  • Learn to design, generate, and iterate upon regular and ad-hoc reports to support the needs of various HR stakeholders.
  • Work closely across the People team to participate in audits, address data discrepancies, and promote best practices in data entry.
  • Act as a point of contact for HRIS-related reporting inquiries and assist with historical records requests.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and our HR Systems Manager to identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the HRIS.
  • Participate in implementing system enhancements to streamline HR processes.

What You Will Bring to the Table:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in People Operations, HR operations, Total Rewards, or a related HR function, with at least 1+ year of experience supporting benefits administration.
  • Working knowledge of US benefits programs, including health and welfare plans, retirement plans, COBRA, ACA, leaves of absence, and wellness programs.
  • Experience using HRIS or HCM platforms.
  • Experience supporting employees directly and resolving benefits or HR-related questions with empathy, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Comfort working with spreadsheets, reports, audits, reconciliations, and data validation.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, recurring deadlines, and employee requests with accuracy.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset and willingness to jump in, learn, and improve processes.
  • High integrity, humility, self-awareness, and a commitment to creating a positive employee experience.
  • Humble, self-aware, and trustworthy; you treasure great colleagues and relationships and are committed to nurturing the culture of the team and company.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience using Jira or a similar ticketing system.
  • Experience administering US benefits.
  • Exposure to international benefits administration (such as the UK and/or Canada) is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience supporting US leave of absence administration or partnering with leave vendors.
  • Familiarity with benefits compliance requirements, including ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, and required employee notices.
  • Experience in a high-growth technology company and a distributed/remote-first environment.
