Where we Work

Udemy is a global company headquartered in San Francisco, with additional U.S. offices in Denver and Austin, and international hubs in Australia, India, Ireland, Mexico, and Türkiye. This is a hybrid position, requiring three days a week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.

About this role

As Accounting Manager, you will be primarily responsible for a variety of corporate and technical accounting areas. You will be a hands-on operator and decision maker, developing best in class policies and processes while helping execute and transform the accounting close. Udemy and Coursera completed their merger in May 2026, and you will play a vital role in advising and navigating through the integration of multiple processes, accounting policies and systems. You will routinely collaborate with multiple cross-functional colleagues across the globe, including Payroll, Benefits, Engineering, Finance, People, and Procurement, to ensure proper accounting treatment and timely financial results. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Accounting.

What you’ll be doing

Manage a team of two individual contributors, including oversight and review of work in a variety of corporate accounting areas including personnel costs, commissions, prepaid expenses, cash, investment activities, and fixed assets.

Lead the accounting for internally-developed capitalized software in accordance with ASC 350-40 , partnering with Engineering, Product, FP&A, and other stakeholders to ensure processes and systems are designed to support timely and accurate financial reporting.

Ensure timely and accurate preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and other month-end close activities for the above areas, with a focus on close acceleration, automation and continuous improvement.

Perform research and prepare supporting documentation over complex and other non-routine transactions, including but not limited to commissions, legal contingencies, intercompany transactions, foreign currency transactions, and deferred compensation.

Coordinate with external auditors and provide support for audits, SOX internal control and compliance activities, financial statement tie out, and other regulatory requirements.

Support integration-related projects by providing key subject matter expertise and implementing process and system-specific recommendations.

Lead and develop your team of direct reports, including providing technical guidance, coaching, performance feedback, and opportunities for further career development.

Assist with accounting analyses, system implementations, and other special projects as needed.

What you’ll have

5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with high preference for experience at Big 4 public accounting firms or publicly-traded companies.

1+ year of direct people management experience.

Experience working in the technology or SaaS industries.

Experience with high volume, multi-currency transactions in a global business environment.

Experience with NetSuite is highly preferred.
